Peacemakers
What sane person would not seek peace in her life? Peace can be found while sitting with vipers if that is where God calls you to be. It can be found in a tiny church in the middle of nowhere on a random Friday at the beginning of fall. It can be found in the chaos of life, a spiritual battle in a hospital room, in a rekindled friendship that both parties thought was not salvageable, or sometimes it can be found in spiritual warfare during your prayer time in the shower.
However, our human nature is to only find true value in something in the presence of its absence in our lives. Such as a loved one before our last day with them on this side of Heaven, a sturdy house before the storm ripped through, the true bond of a soulmate before the connection was lost due to unhealed trauma, or our health before the illness hit.
God orders us to be peacemakers. Matthew 5:9 says, “Bless are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Bless are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 5:9
How can we show others the love of Jesus if we are not willing to offer forgiveness and seek to have peace with others. This includes those people on our “blacklist.” The ones that rub us like sandpaper. The ones that we avoid in stores. The ones that are hard to love. There is one Heaven and one hell. Either destination that you find yourself, you will likely be there with people that you liked and disliked upon this earth. Besides, I am very certain there have been multiple times in my life that I was hard to love too.
Most people enjoy living within the walls of safety and certainty. It is a blessing that we serve a God that does not leave us in the dark wandering, but instead He gives us a playbook, a lesson plan, or a check list of His expectations for what our lives should look like in order to be a good reflection of HIm. He gave us His son, Jesus.
While the storm is raging all around, we can find an inner peace because of His presence within our heart. He is our fourth man in the fire. He desires for you to be obedient so that others will see His glory in your life.
Pray for revelation of relationships that need you to seek peace and healing. Earnestly seek God’s guidance through prayer and fasting before taking action. Then, trust God and let Him lead you into a new version of yourself. One that reflects His grace and mercy a little better each day.
